5 ways to make your dancer smile this holiday season.

Who is ready for the long-awaited break and the cozy end of 2020? surely! Our prestigious holiday break has officially begun. Good luck to the family dancing this holiday season.  Cedar Rapids holidays may look different this year, and 2020 presented us with some challenges, but dance kept us smiling!

This year, our community has dealt with COVID-19 and we are proud to continue to provide our students with safe dance classes. We were here to give everyone a smile  in 2020, and we have no plans to stop soon.

Following are 5 ways to make your dancer smile this season

  1. Have a virtual nutcracker watch party

Because of COVID-19, going to the theater for this classic holiday tradition is not an option. Also on the other side, there are many ways to enjoy the show this year because of the comfort and safety of your home.  Ballet companies nationwide offer streaming versions of their work. Check out this article for a complete list of shows. Many of the shows will be held until January. You can even dress up with the dancers and create your own evening theater  at home.

  1. Ring in the new year with new weekly dance class

Is there any better way to start anew in 2021 than to do a new activity on your child’s schedule? !! After the winter vacation, I returned to the studio in January  and will be accepting registration for the 2022 dance class! Now is the perfect time for new dancers to join us and for Tansen students to add new classes to their schedule. The Tansen dance class is also a perfect Christmas gift! Please contact us from here. You can enroll a dancer in a new class. The registration window will close soon.

  1. Add some dance ornaments to your tree

All the Young dancers LOVE Decorating the tree, so why not add some special additions this year?! Try to Purchase some from our local small businesses or make your own at home if you’re feeling crafty. Young dancers love adding this personal touch to their trees year after year.

  1. Watch white Christmas on Netflix

We recommend this music and dance-filled classical music to all  dance families around the holidays! The number of their dances is amazing! Available on Netflix, it’s a surefire way to surprise dancers who love the spotlight.

  1. Read a dance book together

Holidays are the perfect time to curl up, snuggle up to the fire,  read dazzling dance stories and inspire your kids. Check out this amazing list of picture books for your little ballerina! With Misty Copeland’s latest book “Bunheads” and the timeless classic “Dancing in the Wings” by dance legend Debbie Allen, this list will surely evoke a big smile! For  older dancers, we recommend Misty Copeland’s Life in Motion.
